DOCTOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
OVERVIEW
Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is designed to improve your business and managerial practice through the development of your personal, intellectual and academic abilities, via consultancy and research-based projects. It has a strong and committed focus on managerial and professional practice, and seeks to link the rigorous study of work-based problems and issues to personal and professional development, thereby ensuring transfer of learning into organizational and managerial practice.
This programme is ideal for senior business managers, independent consultants, policy makers and those who are in leadership positions who want to become significantly more effective in the management practice as well as enhance their ability to engage in intense and highly relevant research.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- A master’s degree in related fields from universities recognised by the Senate of the University;
- OR
- A master’s degree in non-related fields from universities recognised by the Senate of the University subject to having relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment.
- Proficiency in English language evidenced by one of the following:
- Score of 550 on TOEFL (paper-based) or, 213 (computer-based) or, 79 (internet-based)
- Band 6.0 on IELTS
- Band 6.0 on IIUM English Proficiency Test (EPT)
- Minimum Score of 4.5 on MUET

- The Consultancy Management module aims to provide necessary knowledge and skills in client intervention and also management intervention process as an essential tool to undertaking any organisational strategy. This module helps the candidates to develop their portfolio in consultancy area which can be used in their professional career development.
- Thesis
- The DBA programme prepares candidates to conduct applied research in specific business disciplines, allowing them to pursue an advanced career in corporations, banks, government agencies and research-oriented consulting positions. The research capabilities developed in the programme are more applied nature with more immediate real-world applicability than typical research pursued in the PhD programme.
